Frequently Asked Questions
What makes Tunisian baklawa different?
Tunisian baklawa is generally cut thinner and syruped more lightly than the versions most North American customers have met. The proportion tips towards the nut rather than the sugar, so the pistachio or almond is what you taste first. The shapes differ too — Tunisian baklawa is often cut in fine diamonds rather than heavy squares.
How should I store my pastries?
Keep them in the original box or an airtight container, in a cool, dry place away from heat and direct sunlight. Do not refrigerate — refrigeration softens layered pastry and dulls the texture that makes it worth eating. See Pastry Care and Storage for more.
How long do the pastries stay fresh?
Best-quality periods differ by pastry — the layered ones and the shortbreads do not behave the same way. We are finalising a confirmed best-quality window for each product and will publish it on the individual product pages. In the meantime, email darna.pastry@gmail.com and we will tell you exactly what to expect for what you are ordering.
Do you include allergen information?
Yes. Allergen statements appear on each product page as we confirm them recipe by recipe. Our pastries are nut-forward by tradition and most contain tree nuts, wheat and dairy. If you have a food allergy, please contact us before ordering rather than relying on a description alone. See Allergen and Ingredient Information.
Can I include a gift message?
Email us at darna.pastry@gmail.com after placing your order with the message and the order number, and we will include it where we can. A gift-message field at checkout is on the way.
Do you ship throughout the United States?
Please contact us at darna.pastry@gmail.com to confirm whether we currently ship to your address, and what it costs. We would rather answer directly than publish a coverage map we cannot yet stand behind.
Can I order for an event or business?
Yes. See Corporate & Event Gifting, or email us with your date, quantity and destination.
What happens if my order arrives damaged?
Tell us as soon as you notice, and send photographs of the box and the contents as they arrived. We review damage, missing items and incorrect orders individually and will put it right. See our Refund and Replacement Policy.
